Have you ever felt down and depressed, and felt that nothing can cheer you up. Depression is a part and parcel of human life, and everyone goes through phases of happiness as well as melancholia. But, do not let depression become your friend, because there are several really negative effects of it, like feeling really upset for no reason, moving between being extremely happy and extremely sad (also known as bipolar disorders), feeling anxious with an increment in your heartbeat, a sense of worthlessness, and many more such mental feelings which are not healthy for you at all.
Here is where a good bit of exercise can really help shake off the blues. Do you know, during exercise, your body releases a substance known as endorphins, which result in you feeling happier? A happy body leads to a calm and focused mind, and it makes one feel immediately stronger and surer of the self. Not feeling confident about the self is a part of depression, and if you are confident, you will feel better immediately.
Now, remember, there are many ways of doing exercise which can make you feel better. If you are not really into hitting the gym, then there are definitely other ways which can be used to do some work out without really feeling you are doing it.
There are many forms of mild and strenuous exercise, which can be done to make you feel better. Have you ever noted that when you go shopping and find something you really like, instantly the mind feels calmer and you feel really happy? Walking is a great way of burning off calories, and while walking around the mall, one forgets about the amount of energy spent as long as they get the thing they are looking for. Walk around the mall, pick things up from the lower shelves, and climb stairs rather than taking the lift, and in an hour, you would be spending over 130-200 calories, depending upon the strain.
Another great way of exercise, which is also very environment-safe, is bicycling, and it really helps people feel better about them, as while biking, the entire body gets a strong, strenuous exercise while the environment gets a break from all the pollution. One more form of exercise can be swimming, which is really good for the mind as well as the body, as water is known to soothe the body and calm the mind. So, try these alternative exercises to feel better about yourself!
